Well-being walk with Jane & Mr Darcy

A well-being walk—with the real Mr Darcy—Mark Darcy (not only a well-known character in the Bridget Jones novels and based on Mr. Darcy), but also local wellbeing guru Mark Darcy of Mark Darcy New Forest Wellbeing. As our Mark Darcy said, "The purpose is to bring people together to help improve their lives, health, and wellbeing while having meaningful conversations and connections. I encourage everyone to bring an open mind and a willingness to learn and share. The possibilities are endless, and you have many reasons not to come, but I promise you will not regret it, so maybe make a different choice and create a new experience. Find out how 'melancholia' was treated in the time of Jane Austen when Southampton was a watering place and health spa!


Happy Within - improving wellbeing

Mark is regularly a part of events at The Foundry in Poole.

Each month, The Foundry introduces its members to a wellbeing expert who will share insights and advice on how to maintain a healthy work-life balance, manage stress, and optimise your overall wellbeing. In these sessions, members have the opportunity to engage in interactive discussions, ask questions, and gain practical tips and techniques to implement in their daily lives.

During Mark Darcy’s session, the group discussed:

  • How do we become happy within and create this magical life? 

  • Have you always said that you would improve your wellbeing but have never committed?

  • Want to increase your life expectancy by up to 10 years? 

  • You will definitely take away things to improve your wellbeing. It would be very strange not to choose to spend your time on your wellbeing. It will be the best investment you will ever make. 


IKEA really did kick the year off in the right direction, investing in their staff's well-being and health while having meaningful conversations to improve their lives in the beautiful New Forest.

Everyone learnt something, had a wonderful time by trying a new experience that creates new feelings, and improved their well-being and health. Most significantly, the talk's emphasis on living in the now was accomplished, which is not easy!
